Privacy Policy
What this site collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
The short version
This website collects very little. If you fill in the contact form, we receive what you typed so we can reply. We count visits in aggregate to understand which pages are useful. We do not set cookies, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Who we are
This site is operated by Ericka DeBruce DBA EDB Consulting LLC ("EDB Consulting", "we", "us"). For any question about this policy or about your information, contact ericka.debruce@edbconsulting.org.
What we collect
Information you give us
When you submit the contact form, we receive the name, email address, organization, reason for reaching out, and message that you enter. Nothing on the form is required beyond name, email, and message. Please do not send confidential or sensitive information through the form.
If you email us directly, we receive whatever you include in that email.
Information collected automatically
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. It records aggregate counts: pages viewed, referring site, approximate country, device type, and browser. None of it identifies you, and none of it follows you to other websites.
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. These are retained briefly and are not used to build a profile of you.
Fonts
This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser requests those files directly from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request. We do not receive or store that information. If you would prefer this not happen, the fonts can be hosted on this site directly instead.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own and uses no advertising or cross-site tracking technology. That is why you are not seeing a cookie banner.
How we use what we collect
- To respond to your inquiry and continue the conversation you started
- To provide the services you and your organization engage us for
- To understand, in aggregate, which parts of this site are useful
- To keep the site secure and working
- To meet legal or accounting obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not use it for advertising, and we will not add you to a marketing list because you contacted us.
Who else sees it
A small number of service providers process information on our behalf, and only to deliver their service to us:
- Our website host, which serves these pages and keeps server logs
- Our form provider, which delivers form submissions to our inbox
- Our email provider, which stores our correspondence
- Plausible Analytics, for aggregate visit counts
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety. That is the full list.
Where your information is held
We operate from the United States, and our providers may store or process information in the United States and other countries. Where information is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved safeguard.
How long we keep it
Inquiry correspondence is kept for as long as it remains useful to the relationship, and reviewed periodically. Records tied to a client engagement are kept for seven years after the engagement ends, to meet contractual and accounting obligations. Aggregate analytics contain no personal data and are kept indefinitely. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Have your information deleted
- Object to or restrict how we use it
- Receive it in a portable format
- Withdraw consent you previously gave
To exercise any of these, email ericka.debruce@edbconsulting.org. We will respond within 30 days, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom
Our lawful bases for processing are your consent, when you choose to contact us; our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries and keeping the site secure; performance of a contract, where we are working with your organization; and legal obligation, where one applies. You have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we have not done so in the past twelve months. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information beyond what is needed to provide our services. You may exercise the rights described above by emailing us, and we will not discriminate against you for doing so.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Because this site does no cross-site tracking, there is nothing for these signals to switch off. We honor them by default.
Children
This site is intended for professional audiences and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and we limit access to inquiry correspondence to those who need it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please do not send confidential information through the contact form.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top. Significant changes will be noted clearly.
